By th first deadline only two of the four members of the group have posted information: Dachiardi & Vargas. The name of the places has to be correct so that if people want to locate the places in a map they can. Come and ask if you don't remember!
The relationship of conductivity to purity in the water has to be explained, moreso if you are talking about drinking or potable water. Identify the kind of elements that affect freshwater to prevent it from being potable but also compare the results obtained. What are the reasons for the difference in the results between open ocean, bays and in the marshes? What is accepted and how do experts evaluate the quality of water?

CWW Guajira 2010: Water Conductivity and Location To start understanding the economy and culture of La Guajira you have to understand water availability and its properties. Due to the difficulty of acquiring local drinkable water, as this essay will show, people have to transport water long distances on inappropriate roads. In this essay you will find information and comparisons of the local water's characteristic traits such as pH, temperature, conductivity (which relates to its contamination and salt levels) and the UVA and UVB at which the water was tested. This information could be used for new decontamination and desalination processes that can create new, local water sources for the Guajira communities. Through our trip we tested the water characteristics of the beach of El Pilón de Azúcar (1st picture), the Open Sea at el Santuario de Flora y Fauna los Flamencos, the Bog at el Santuario de Flora y Fauna los Flamencos (2nd Picture), ranchería Dividivi drinking water, the water used to clean residues left in the salt at the salt mines and Ranchería Luz Mila at Punta Gallinas. As you will explore through this essay, local water acquisition is a huge problem for the Guajira community.

By analyzing the information we collected, we plan to not only decide which source of water would be the easiest to purify and the hardest to purify, but also to see how the environments in which the water samples were taken cause changes in water quality. For instance, we see how the bog samples of water has lower radiation from the sun and more particles in ppm compared to a sample of water taken in the same reserve but in open sea. This shows that open water would not only be more sterile than the bog water due to the effects of radiation, but it would also be healthier due to its level of purity, which is also lower (conductivity). However, by far the purest water we tested was that of Dividivi, with the lowest pH and Conductivity. Even if the particles in Dividivi water were few, this does not necessarily make the water drinkable. Microorganisms wouldn't show up in the Conductivity analysis. This is why Dividivi water would make us sick (since we are not used to drinking it and therefore lack the immune protection against its dangers), while it does not necessarily make the natives sick. A possibility would have been to boil Dividivi water to kill any dangerous organisms that might have harmed us. Then, the water would have been good to drink. Does this mean we could have drank it? What are the normal data? Want to test some of Bogota's water to compare with the freshwater in Divi-divi?
After taking a close look at La Guajira’s water problems and the differences in water samples we can conclude that drinking water is very hard to find. Water at the Dividivi was clean enough to drink and what that proves is that if, in the right conditions, water is found it will remain pure for a long time without treatment. Water at Punta Gallinas which had a very high exposure to UV was relatively clean when compared to water from the open sea at Camarones. These samples were taken at around the same time and are a clear example of the effect UV has on the conductivity. The low amounts of UV at Camarones during the morning are combined with lots of ppm.
What determines the quality of the water is the use you are going to give it. Most of the surface water on earth is neither drinkable nor toxic. Some of the contaminants that appear in water are salt, microorganism, radioactivity, chemicals, metals and pesticides. Most of these contaminations would appear through our conductivity results. Most drinking water includes contaminants that are not harmful to our health. Water can have a certain color or odor and still be potable. If you take water from local pond, well (Dividivi), or the ocean the only thing that determines the drinkability is the environment around it. If the environment has been taken care of, it is very likely that the water is safe to drink. That would explain why the water at Dividivi was clean enough to drink.
Acquiring drinking water in La Guajira is not easy and that is why it is valued so greatly. The native’s way of life has been able to adapt and use less water in their daily life. For Instance, people in La Guajira's management of water is strictly controlled by small tanks of water, where you can see the amount being removed, and the amount remaining. So, if you need to wash your hands (in Divi-Divi, for instance), the water you use comes from a container that you can see, so your awareness of your consumption of water becomes much greater. The water used for flushing, which requires a great deal of water, is salty water removed from the ocean nearby. This separation of the uses of water depending on its qualities also allows a more efficient consumption. In other words, drinking water would never be wasted on flushing a toilet. Like? They have to do different types of procedures before they drink it since water can carry bacteria. They have to boil it so that the organisms die or maybe they developed a new antibody against illness of any kind by water contamination. However, judging by the fact that many young children were very skinny, and still had huge stomachs, some may conclude that this is due to the fact that they are contaminated with a parasite, possibly water-borne. .
